DEVO - Loud Shots From The Big Spud Gun [Amended]

WE DO LIKE MUSIC

This is a fan-compiled DEVO bootleg of a bunch of rare and weird DEVO songs -- the original was 2 CDs long, and it's got a LOT of cool stuff on it. Luckily, some of the stuff has since been officially released on either Pioneers Who Got Scalped or Recombo DNA (which is COMPLETELY essential for any DEVO fan. Pioneers is somewhat as well, as it's got some bonus tracks and about half of Freedom Of Choice in remastered form, but Recombo is essential. For reals. Go to Rhino Handmade. I don't know if it's sold out), so to get Sharebee to take the download, I deleted that stuff, as it's in much better quality on those real releases anyway. But anyway, though -- this is a pretty cool boot.

It also has "Caoutchouc" on it, as it was thought of for a really long time as a hardcore-era DEVO song, but it turns out it's not. I don't know who did it, unfortunately. It's a real good song, though. I wish I knew who did it, though. I wonder if the rest of their stuff is as good?

  1. I've seen some these tracks "Red Shark," "Nutty Buddy," "Huboon Stomp" on various other bootlegs before.

You can't get those on Recombo DNA or Pioneers Who Got Scalped. So this is a nice compilation with rare unofficial tracks.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi, guys.
I know I'm late to the party, but could I prevail upon you kind spuds to reupload this for a lonely mutant? I've lost the CD I burned of this outstanding boot, and I'm jonesing for it like bad, baby, and the links are all dead and shrivelled up.
If I don't hear that extended Mecha-Mania Boy before the sun goes down, I just don't know, man, but it's gonna be one bad scene...
    Thanks!

    1. Hi spud,
I was the potato who originally made this (the 2 cd set). I don't even have a copy :( . It was a blast to make, people mailing me cd's from all over the world with some of the tracks they had found, the band knew what we were doing (it was for members of a devo email list) and someone we know and love actually did the cover art. In the midst of mailing them out, Rhino contacted me and told me they were putting out Recombo soon (it had not been announced) and asked me to stop and used a couple tracks from Loud Shots on Recombo. I had forgotten all about this.

  3. Dave, thanks for a most interesting reply! Sorry it took me so long to find it; I had started thinking this blog was as dead as democracy. Now that you've told me this I feel confident that we've met before, either on one of the Club Devo incarnations, on Spud Talk, through Alex B, through Twitter during the SFE campaign, behind the Carpet Warehouse or SOME damned place.
Or maybe you're the guy whose foot I stepped on during my Single Man March for the Fab Five in April 2010:

Baby thugs, bad spuds and Republicans called me mad, so I knew I was doing something right.

I applaud someone you know and love for giving the Are You Experienced? look a rare public airing denied it by microcephalic dinosaurs, and I invite you to write me at granttarredus@gmail.com (I may have a certain something for you).
And does that extended Mecha-Mania Boy kick ass, or what? Gets MY synapses firing in sync every damn time!
